Dear Sean, A girl needs her big brother through life’s journey. You influenced and forged our sibling bond in fun, in adventure, and seeding a curiosity for the unknown. Until the very last breath, you wrapped me in quiet strength during the times that bent my bones and tested my spirit. This will never fade. You have been my shield, my teacher, my hearts home. Your indomitable spirit will be embedded into every part of who I am, in the fight and in the love. You will be the reason for the way that I look at the stars and the beyond on dark nights.
And though the universe has taken you ahead somewhere I can’t yet follow, your brilliance will only shine brighter, and further, it doesn’t end here. Your light carries forward in me and in everyone—in the quiet bravery you gave me, in the invisible thread between us that no distance can touch. You are still here with me and Jacquie.
