Seven years ago, modelling in @fashioncanada was my first really big job as a model. It was an advertorial for Pantene, Cover Girl and Olay, and I flew from London back home to do the shoot. I was beyond happy and I couldn’t believe it.
Seven years later, I got my FIRST print story ever published in the same magazine! ? It was my absolute pleasure writing this story, exploring the bifurcation of gender in fashion and highlighting brands that design for PEOPLE, designers that play with design details and truly just learning so much more about how gender is a social construct.
This journey from model to journalist during this pandemic has been difficult in so many ways, but so so rewarding. This is one of those rewards... seeing my name there, as a JOURNALIST, a WRITER, in a national Canadian magazine, IN PRINT. It feels so cool. It feels just as amazing as it felt that day to open that magazine and see myself in there working with brands as big as Cover Girl. I never thought I’d be in that same magazine as a journalist, seven years later.
This issue of FASHION is out now! If you grab a copy let me know!!! ??
To see that advertorial from seven years ago! ? And shout to my agent @matti_maty who has always been so supportive of my journalism career and constantly encourages me that I don’t have to choose between modelling and journalism, I can do both!)
